What is Counselling?
It is not about crossing your fingers and leaving the rest to luck - It generally takes a lot of courage, real effort and commitment.

Counselling is a professional relationship between counsellor and client, based on trust and confidentiality. The aim of counselling is to provide a private and confidential setting where you and your counsellor can explore areas of difficulty you may be having. The goal may be "freedom from the past to live in the present and look towards the future"


Can Anyone have counselling?
Yes, it may be something your doctor suggests or something you want to experience for yourself. Anyone who is unhappy, stressed, or anxious that they are not performing as they would wish, can benefit from the opportunity to talk through their situation.

Must I have a specific reason or problem?
No, counselling can be sought for many different reasons. A person's perspective of a problem can be reframed and seen as an opportunity for positive change.

Do Neart Consultants' Counsellors & Psychotherapists attend regular supervision for their practice?
Yes they do. This is the client's safety net - Counsellors / Psychotherapists are human too! The supervision process for the professional who is counselling is without doubt important for the Counsellor / Psychotherapist. However, It is is an essential component in making sure that the client is receiving the best possible care. The supervision element in the practice of Counselling/Psychotherapy is something that every client is entitled to have in place.

By identifying problem areas of stress in your life, you become familiar with what choices you can make and you give yourself the opportunity to change.
